Since 1996, geoENV conferences have been held biennially at venues across Europe. From the first conference in Lisbon, the event has been staged in Valencia (1998), Avignon (2000), Barcelona (2002), Neuchâtel (2004), and Rhodes (2006) and has become established as a leading forum for Scientists across a broad range of disciplines to share their experiences on the application of geostatistics to environmental problems.

We are pleased to announce that geoENV 2008, the 7th International Conference on Geostatistics for Environmental Applications will be held in Southampton, UK on the 8th - 10th September 2008, and we invite submissions for presentations. A non-exclusive list of topics to be covered includes:

  • Methods
  • Remote Sensing
  • Ecology, natural resources
  • Hydrology
  • Soils
  • Health, epidemiology, ecotoxicology
  • Pollution
  • Air monitoring
  • Spatio-temporal statistics
  • Climatology
  • Forestry, agriculture
  • Biometry
  • Theoretical developments
  • Multiple point geostatistics
  • Downscaling
  • Kalman filtering

Publications

Key factors that have contributed most to the success of the geoENV conference series are the careful selection of presentations and the peer review of papers submitted for publication in a conference volume. For this task, geoENV relies on a Scientific Committee that includes the most prestigious geostatisticians from all over the world. In this way, the geoENV conferences give rise to a series of highly regarded volumes of selected papers published in the proceedings geoENV I to geoENV V. Authors should note, however, that it is not mandatory that papers be submitted for publication: extended two-page abstracts are also welcome and these will not appear in the published conference volume.

Keynote speakers

We are pleased to announce that the keynote speakers for this event will be:

  • Professor Phaedon Kyriakidis, UCSB
  • Professor Peter Diggle, Lancaster University
  • Professor Marc Bierkens, Utrecht University
